Come to Book Culture on 112th to celebrate the release of Hassan Najmi's first English translation of his poetry collection, The Blueness of the Evening. Hassan will be joined by a panel consisting of Madeleine Dobie, Kathy Engel, Julio Ramos, and Mbarek Sryfi. Hassan Najmi, born in Ben Ahmed in 1960, now resides in Rabat. Ghost Fishing Installation: Unveiling & Inaugural Reading

The public art installation Ghost Fishing opens on Monday, September 10th, 5-7pm with a blessing of the plants and the poems offered by Shinnecock Nation elder Denise Silva-Dennis, followed by readings from a few of the poets and organizers. Kathy Engel's poem "Return" is featured in one of the windows. Students will recite Kathy's poem "Now I Pray" at this year's National High School Recitation Contest Poetry Out Loud, organized in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts. The performance will be broadcasted on April 30 and May 1 via the Poetry out Loud and NEA websites.
